Aircraft windows are made of two layers and a space between them. In fact, the interior window facing the passengers is not part of the aircraft structure. That is to say, it exists as a security measure so that the exterior window is not touched and as a reinforcement to maintain pressure at the end of the event that the exterior window is damaged.

The role of the hole is to serve as a valve to equalize the pressure between this inner window and the outer window. Between the inner and outer window there is a small air chamber and this hole regulates the pressure between the two sheets automatically.

Additionally, this hole allows to balance the humidity level. This allows prevent the window from fogging up or freezing. In other words, it prevents condensation and the accumulation of steam on the outer glass that could favor the appearance of ice.
