Vodafone launches a self-installable 5G router ready for us to forget about fiber

Vodafone has presented ‘Home 5G’, a solution that allows you to enjoy a broadband connection that not dependent on fiber and is entirely based on 5G networks.

This solution proposes the use of the router Vodafone GigaCube 5G that poses striking benefits aimed at households and companies and with an interesting potential: that of proposing alternatives to connectivity in rural areas.

Why use fiber when you have 5G?

Vodafone’s proposal once again makes this already obvious possibility of turning mobile networks into perfect alternatives to traditional broadband connections fiber based. We already saw options like this when 4G networks began to demonstrate their benefits, and the thing makes even more sense with 5G networks.

The so-called ‘5G Home’ is a solution that allows the customer to have one more alternative in this regard: there are places where fiber does not reach or where 5G connectivity simply offers a good balance of price and performance, and this new 5G router makes it possible not to depend on fiber connections.

I live in the middle of nowhere and I want the Internet: the options of a sector that Starlink wants to revolutionize

Vodafone’s proposal stands out for that router that is self-installable —we could almost call it ‘plug & play’— and that prevents technicians from having to come to carry out the traditional installation on fiber lines.

The benefits that Vodafone promises are also noteworthy: transfers of up to 1 Gbps speed and up to 35 devices connected simultaneously which precisely also make it an interesting option for SMEs and not only for residential clients.

The ease of installation and the capacity of 5G networks — here we logically depend on the coverage that reaches the home or office — makes this solution remarkable for hard-to-reach areas, rural areas or second homes.

Price and availability of the new Vodafone 5G router

Vodafone has indicated that “marketing of the device will be included in the new rate portfolio that will be commercially available in the coming months“.
