Three excellent science fiction short series to watch in one sitting

  • 8

We continually complain that we don’t have time for so much audiovisual consumption, and it’s true: too many series and movies and not all so interesting. But today we bring a proposal: three series of short episodes that you can watch almost in one sitting, and of highly contrasted quality. Let yourself be carried away by these three (brief) experiments in the best television science fiction.

‘undon’

It has a second season planned since the first one was practically broadcast, but its date has been known for only a few days (April of this year). Still, the initial batch of episodes works perfectly as a sensational psychonautical drama in which a young woman discovers that after an accident she has a unique relationship with space and time. Its rotoscope animation aesthetic gives it a unique and perfect air to reflect the distortion of reality experienced by the protagonist, played by a devastating Rosa Salazar.

Three streaming science fiction movies that went unnoticed

‘Devs’

One of the sensations of recent fantastic television, which is also now available on two different platforms. Brief and self-contained tells a fascinating story about a programmer who wants to get her boyfriend back, missing in what appears to be a case of espionage within cryptic tech companies. But the reality is much more esoteric. The series that has made Alex Garland a definitively necessary creator in the genre (‘Ex Machina’, ‘Annihilation’, ‘Dredd’), enigmatic, critical and exciting.

Three science-fiction movies in streaming for all tastes and that are worth revisiting

‘Calls’

One of the most hypnotic series recently released, which goes beyond the limits between the narration of inexplicable phenomena related to space-time and pure and simple visual experimentation. Without actors (although the voices in the original version make up an overwhelming cast), only with abstract graphics, we will listen to a series of phone calls that reveal an intriguing story (each episode is independent, but the season is a whole with meaning). The worst: that ‘Calls’ is a rarity, and not something common on modern television.
