Microsoft would have considered launching a Xbox Game Pass family plan for a long time, but since the service has been around we haven’t seen anything like it. Now according to Windows Centerthose from Redmond are working hard on expanding their subscription so that, by paying a little more, we can share it with our friends or family.

Details are scarce at the moment, but the Xbox Game Pass family plan would provide access to five players, who would access the entire library of games on the service, and would have a cheaper price to pay each subscription separately, as it is the only alternative we have today. For this, Microsoft would use its “family account” system.

This is how the Xbox Game Pass family plan would work

“Family account” is the system that allows us to share Microsoft 365. Unlike what happens with other family plans, which are designed to work with people who live in the same household (for example Netflix), Microsoft’s extends this limit to those within the same country. This feature would also come to the Xbox Game Pass family plan.

Since we are talking about a family plan, there will be no need to share a password. Each plan member you should be able to use your own account. This would allow them to save their games, progress, achievements, and more. The account paying for the family subscription would take on the role of administrator for the subscription, and would be able to add or remove members.

Some details are still unclear. Recall that Microsoft offers three levels of Game Pass with more than 100 games. The standard subscription for consoles (€9.99/month), PC subscription (€9.99/month) and Ultimate (€12.99/month), which combines the previous ones and adds online multiplayer. Will we have separate family plans or a single option? We do not know it yet.

What is Game Pass and what advantages does the Microsoft subscription offer

The arrival of the Xbox Game Pass family plan would have been delayed by the review of contracts with different companies. That is, the agreements that Microsoft would have had to reach with external publishers in distribution of royalties and others. In any case, the plan would come after Sony announced its response to Games Pass with a PlayStation Plus upgrade (starting plan €8.99/month).
