‘Big Bang’ by Armand Sarlangue

In the image, a secondary fissure that occurs a few hundred meters from the main crater of the Fagradalsfjall volcano, during the last eruptive phase. It was captured as a storm hit western Iceland, bringing rain and strong winds. Due to the difficult conditions, a drone shot like this is unique.

A photograph based on the strength of color and symmetry to shock the viewer. In addition, it plays with pareidolia, as it can suggest many things to us, according to our imagination. And we realize that red will always get our attention.

‘Like a Painted Picture’ by Krzysztof Krawczyk

The sun’s rays on a body of water, a felled tree and a reckless bride lying on it – a magnificent painting painted by nature. The surface of the water looks like a night sky quilted with stars and the bride a dreamy princess.

It is an image that forces you to think that you are seeing. With the explanation of the author you realize that it is nothing more than a fallen tree in the water and the bride is lying on it. The white dress allows us to discover where we have to look. Noteworthy is the subtle use of flash lighting.

‘Solidarity’ by Mehdi Mohebipour

Flamingos sleep together at night for added security and stay together during the day, thus protecting each other. In this multitude of bodies, the color nuances of the plumage and the reflections of light stand out.

A perfect repetition exercise. Of course, from a point of view unattainable for most mortals. It’s hard to find a pattern in photography similar to compose, but when you have it before your eyes you have to take advantage of it

Sport

Drone Awards 2022

‘Falling Skiers’ by Daniel Koszela

The photo taken in March 2022 shows the competitors of the annual Bieg Piastów ski event held in Szklarska Poręba, in its 46th edition. Skiers in their colorful gear zoom down the slope surrounded by snow-covered trees.

The perfect trick of this photograph is the white background of the snow and the contrast of the color of the athletes’ uniforms, which dot the entire frame in an orderly manner. We are before an image that works for minimalism, broken by the presence of trees. Although it seems simple, it is difficult take advantage of minimalist photography.

‘Sleeping on a Boat’ by Anindita Roy

Dhaka is situated on the banks of the famous Buriganga River. Dhaka’s river port, Sadarghat, is the busiest in Bangladesh, serving most of the country’s districts. People from both banks of the Buriganga River cross it using small boats. The boatmen who work on them usually sleep at night on the boats themselves.

The composition is very similar to the award-winning photograph of Animal Life. Only this time the whole pattern is broken by the green mesh that protects the boatman from mosquitoes. In addition, it is located in the lower right corner according to the rule of thirdsso it is visually attractive but low risk.

‘Rooftops of Kartoffelraekkerne Neighbourhood’ by Serhiy Vovk

Rooftops in the Kartoffelraekkerne neighborhood in Oesterbro. The neighborhood was built in the late 19th century for working-class families. Today, it is one of the most sought after in Copenhagen.

Again we are facing a photographic pattern, which many photographers with drones follow. It is a way to discover the tastes of the jury to be encouraged to compete in the next call. The monotony of color is broken by the warm facades of the houses on the first and central lines.

‘Meeting’ by David Rouge

This photo is the result of a dream come true: the meeting of the desert and the ocean. As the drone climbed higher, the photographer noticed a particular atmosphere, in which the light highlighted the luscious shapes of these dunes that flow into the South Atlantic Ocean.

A purely abstract photograph that shows us the encounter between the sea and the desert. The high point of view allows us to see the scene differently. But the key to photography is the use of light that outlines and gives volume to the desert dunes.

‘Salt Farm Workers Harvesting’ by Saurabh Sirohiya

Some laborers working in a salt pan where they move the salt to form circular lines that allow a slow evaporation under the hot sun. At the end of the day the salt is collected in baskets: it is really hard work!

The result is so striking that we can even think that we are facing a performance rather than reality. The black background, the white salt and the warm green dresses of the workers… It is a unique situation for a photographer who throws you to buy a drone until you realize its price and how difficult it is to fly it without violating the law.

Videos

They have also awarded films made with drones. As we always say, video is at least 24 times a second more complicated than photography. In this case we highlight the work of Alen Tkalčec throughout a year traveling through the most impressive corners. A good way to see things.
