the service to withdraw cash with the mobile has had problems for a week

  • 1

Users of Twyp, ING’s cash withdrawal tool, have been having trouble using the app for a week. so they have manifested dozens of users on social networks, who have been asking Twyp for days to offer an explanation.

From Twyp they confirm that they have detected an incident since last week and that they are “working as a priority to resolve it.” Meanwhile, the application shows this same message to users and does not allow operations, such as withdrawing money in cash at any of the 30,000 points available in Spain, including El Corte Inglés supermarkets or those of the Dia group.

Problems with TWYP

The use of Twyp in Spain is quite widespread, unlike in the Netherlands, where ING decided to close the tool. At the beginning of the year, ING ad what would extend its cashback service to all its users with a Payroll Account. In other words, the option to withdraw cash will not only be available through Twyp.

While most banks have been closing ATMs and offices, these cashback systems have gained a lot of traction in Spain, allowing you to withdraw money from supermarkets as if they were ATMs.

In April 2022, ING announced that its cashback service became a market standard, through the fintech TOPII. This change will allow expanding the number of places to withdraw money, including gas stations, tobacconists and other types of stores.

It is unknown if the current problems with Twyp are related to this system change. From Xataka we have contacted ING Spain and Twyp to find out more details about it. We will update when the company offers more information.
