  • 18

The WhatsApp app for Android receives a set of improvements that have long been available to iPhone users. These are new features that improve the overall experience of the voice memo featureone of the most used of the Meta messaging application.

According to the company itself, approximately 7 billion voice messages are sent every day. The high adoption of this feature could be due to the fact that for many it is more practical to make a recording of what they want to say than to write it down. Let’s take a closer look at the new features and how they might benefit us.

New features in WhatsApp for Android

new player: We can now continue to listen to voice notes even if we leave the chat. This is possible thanks to a global player that is displayed at the top.

pause a recording: Before we could only record in one go, but that’s a thing of the past. A new button allows us to pause and resume the recording of a voice note at any time.

Waveform display– Voice memos in chat are now displayed with a visual representation of the sound of the voice message.

continue after pause: If you pause a voicemail while listening to it, you can pick up where you left off when you return to chat.

Quick play on forwarded messages– We can now play voice messages at 1.5x or 2x speeds to hear normal and forwarded messages faster.

How to have the new features of WhatsApp

The new features are now available to all WhatsApp users on Android (this is not a beta). To access them all you have to do is download the latest version of the app from the Google Play Store.
