the legendary football saga will be called ‘EA Sports FC’ from next year

Since October, Electronic Arts has been talking about a possible name change for its historic FIFA soccer franchise, but today it has confirmed through his official blog that the change will be real and effective from next year, in July 2023. There will still be an installment titled ‘FIFA 23’, and from then on the game series will be called ‘EA Sports FC’, since the contract of both entities -FIFA and EA- ends in December of this year.

Few more data are available on the subject, but there is a confirmed issue: the licenses of teams, players and leagues will continue to be maintained. This year’s game won’t be a transitional title either. EA promises in its statement that it will be the biggest ‘FIFA’ to date, with more features, game modes, content specific to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and more teams, leagues, competitions and players than any other ‘FIFA ‘ previous.

And starting next year, the new ‘EA Sports FC’ will retain what has made the series famous: game modes with their leagues, tournaments, Ultimate Team, Career mode and Volta Football. They will follow the more than 700 teams with their 19,000 footballers, the more than 100 stadiums and 30 leagues, among which will be the UEFA Champions League, CONMEBOL Libertadores, the Premier League, the Bundesliga, LaLiga, Serie A and more. EA also takes the opportunity to underline that EA Sports FC will mark the beginning of a “new independent platform”, so we may see changes that go beyond mere continuity.

At the moment, the CEO of Electronic Arts, Andrew Wilson, states that “our vision for EA SPORTS FC is to create the largest and most impactful football club in the world, at the epicenter of football fans.” He continues: “For almost 30 years we have been building the largest football community in the world, with hundreds of millions of players, thousands of sports partners and hundreds of leagues, federations and teams. EA SPORTS FC will be the club for each of them.” and for football fans around the world.”
