It is curious, but the Pixels are no longer the Android that are updated the most.

There is a false belief that all Android phones will receive at least two major system updates. Since 2018, manufacturers are obliged to offer two years of security updates, that is, patches with bug fixes and security improvements. But this standard does not refer to the version of Android.

In fact, there are recent controversies like that of the Realme Pad. The manufacturer I didn’t want to update it even once (beyond security patches) and, after user complaints, rectified to promise one year version update.

There are manufacturers getting their act together, with Samsung offering four years of Android versions and five of patches, or Xiaomi jumping on the bandwagon of three years of updates. There are still few updates compared to the six years that the iPhone receiveseven more when these promises are only for new terminalswhile several high-end from 2 or 3 years ago have already run out of support.

Meanwhile, small developers get their act together
