  • 43

The industry continues to search for formulas to achieve cheap electric car and increase your sales, a key step if you want to extend the technology to all types of audiences. In 2021, 23,686 units of electric vehicles were registered, which represented 2% of total sales.

In this first half of 2022, the upward trend continues. Despite the fact that its impact on the total Spanish market was almost testimonial, in 2021 32.14% more fully electric vehicles were sold than in 2020. So far this year, 13,169 vehicles of this type have been sold in Spain, 65.27% more than in the same period of 2021 and it has managed to expand its market penetration to 3.50%, according to ANFAC data.

The sales are just one more sample of the bets on the electric car that are being made in our country. The Volkswagen Group has confirmed that it will invest 7,000 million euros in a Gigafactory in Sagunto for the battery production to the firms of its automobile conglomerate and to third-party companies, such as Ford.

To all of the above, we must add that the anti-pollution regulations that are being debated in Europe point directly to the prohibition of the sale of combustion vehicles from 2035 and a drastic reduction in polluting emissions in the future Euro 7 regulation that, in practice, will force diesel and gasoline engines to be electrified.

What should we pay attention to in the maintenance of an electric car and what can we not worry about

Little by little, completely electric vehicles are expected to drop in price, but the reality is that, at the moment, this type of car continues to require a significant outlay. It is true, yes, that the lower cost of recharging at home or easier maintenance can compensate.

With their virtues and their defects, below we list the vehicles more interesting and for less money that we can find among electric cars. Those that offer great autonomy at a lower price and in which, we must bear in mind, we do not apply the Moves III Plan discount that the Government offers and that can reach a discount of 7,000 euros at the time of purchase.

In order to slightly expand the range of offers, aware of the state of the market and with the intention that some models can reach autonomies close to 400 kilometers, we have self-imposed a barrier of 40,000 euros before applying the aid.
