Our car will also be detected by the connected cones of the DGT 3.0. What are they and how will they work?

The DGT has its DGT 3.0 project underway. An initiative that is committed to connectivity on the road to improve road safety and that has come to be known in social networks as the “Big Brother” of the organization. The last thing we know is that the cones of the road will also be connected to this great network.

With the DGT 3.0 it is intended to guarantee greater safety to drivers and that unforeseen events on the road are fewer. The project is based on connectivity through 5G networks and in the advantages offered by the connected car. But it will go beyond security and improvements in traffic management are also expected.

Among the changes that we have been talking about in recent months, all the cars that are homologated in Europe already have to have a black box inside but, contrary to what we have been able to read on social networks, this they won’t listen to our conversations nor will it geolocate us at all times.

The accessories that will geolocate us will be the future connected V-16 lights. This device will replace the emergency triangles (they can already be used, although the ones we buy now will not work for us in the future) and will be connected to the DGT 3.0 platform so that the body is informed at all times of an accident or a breakdown in the highway. A system very similar to the one that will mount the connected cones.

To improve safety and traffic flow

The DGT has in mind that the implementation of 5G networks will allow the body, vehicles and various devices communicate with each other. For this reason, in addition to the V-16 lights notifying Traffic, they can also indicate with a light or sound warning in other vehicles that the first one is broken down or involved in an accident.

The same happens with the connected cones of the DGT. A system that Traffic already mentioned during the Global Mobility Callan event focused on mobility that we had the opportunity to attend a few months ago.

The DGT allows you to legally circulate at 150 km/h without being an emergency vehicle. The secret: a sign

With these cones connected, it is intended that drivers be warned that they are going to encounter an unforeseen event on the road, but their activation can also be interesting in sports races (where have already been tested), demonstrations or other types of events in which it is necessary to cut the road.

The objective of the organization is that, in addition to communicating with the vehicles, the connected cones are one more tool for the traffic managementsince it will be possible to follow the progress of these special events and divert the vehicles affected by the most convenient route.
