Musk wants to put Twitter in order with ultimatums: either you believe in the project 100% or better resign

Elon Musk saw, bought and revolutionized. Or at least, he is revolutionizing, because after the massive layoffs and his (failed) attempts to come up with new ideas, what he seems to be clear about is who he wants to have on his staff, and how he wants those employees to work.

Ultimatum. According to The Washington Post, Elon Musk issued an ultimatum to Twitter employees a few hours ago. Either they commit to a “hardcore” Twitter or they resign and take their severance pay. In internal mail, employees had to check the “Yes” box “if you are sure you want to be part of the new Twitter.”

36 hours to make the decision. a leak it also revealed the content of that internal email and gave other information, such as the time limit to sign the petition. Those who do not do so before 5 PM ET (11:00 PM CEST) (or answer no) will be automatically fired and offered a severance pay corresponding to three months’ salary.

work tirelessly. In that message, Musk warned that moving forward with this new Twitter “will mean working many hours with great intensity. Only exceptional performance will serve to pass.”

And on top of that, no teleworking. Musk already indicated a few hours ago that he does not stop working at all hours, seven days a week, and expect his employees to do the same on the new Twitter. Not only that: days ago he also announced that all workers had to return to the office, thus ending the promise of teleworking in the company.

Don’t even think about correcting the boss. Musk’s attitude towards his employees is also being especially harsh: in recent days an engineer who corrected him on a technical aspect he was fired from the company, and it was not the only case. That ultimatum probably won’t help boost the morale of an unmotivated staff that has been unhappy with the decisions of Twitter’s new owner.

Follow the plans with X (and with Twitter Blue). The disaster of the Twitter Blue startup and impersonated verified accounts has caused that feature to be delayed, although Musk has already indicated that they will offer it again next November 29. Meanwhile, a few hours ago he was talking again about the “X” superapp, which apparently is one of Twitter’s big bets for the future now that Musk is at the controls.
