Google has a new Chromebook, but it’s very different from the ones we’ve seen to date. Its about new Chromebook Edition made together with Framework. A laptop with features similar to those of the competition, but focused on repairability.

If you are looking for a Chromebook that will last you for many years and does not present difficulties when it comes to repairing it, the new Framework Laptop Chromebook Edition It is undoubtedly the most interesting option on the market.

The modular and repairable Chromebook

The Framework Chromebook is a laptop with 13.5-inch screen with a resolution of 2,256 x 1,504 pixels in a 3:2 format. Inside we find a 12th generation Intel Core i5-1240P processor, with a consumption of 30W.

The laptop weighs 1.3 kg and is 15.85 mm thick, being quite compact and portable. The keyboard has a 1.5mm travel and both the webcam and the microphones have physical buttons to disable or block access.

Already at the time of buying it we can configure some elements. The Chromebook allows choose which ports and connections we want, being able to choose between USB-C, USB-A, MicroSD, HDMI, DisplayPort and Ethernet. These ports are expansion cards that can be added.

The base memory and hard drive also allows several options, starting from 8 GB DDR4 and 256 GB NVMe and going up to 64 GB DDR4 and 1 TB. For the software we have ChromeOS. An operating system that includes support for Android applications and also allows you to play Steam PC games through Crostini, the Linux for ChromeOS.

Framework Parts

Framework explains that it has replacements of all components and will maintain support for updates for eight years. Google explains that this Chromebook adds the Titan C security chip and will remain updated until 2030.
