good vibes parasitic invasions (Paper Labyrinth 3×02)

  • 4

The third season of ‘Paper Labyrinth’ continues, the fantastic literature podcast that we do at Xataka in collaboration with the Minotauro publishing house, and today we enter one of the most interesting novelties of the publisher for the coming months. This is ‘Simbiosis’, a novel by Bruno Puelles that was a finalist in the last edition of the awards.

The author of it accompanies us to tell us about it. Puelles has revealed to us the creative process that he has followed to come up with the very original idea that he develops in ‘Simbiosis’ and what his inspirations are. He also tells us about the special format under which the novel is developed and how his participation in the Minotaur contest was raised.

‘Simbiosis’ tells a story set in Spain, where a very particular crime takes place. In the year 2000, a very peculiar alien race landed on our planet in peace, the Ilin: they promised us an improvement of our energy sources in exchange for us letting them “parasitize” the terrestrials who wished to, since that is how they can live, since their nature is intangible, and they are part of a hive mind.

In the near future, after the Ilin have definitively settled on Earth, a series of murders take place, something that had been eradicated due to the symbiotic nature that they have achieved with the human population. This is how this mixture of science fiction, a futuristic and procedural parable begins, which asks questions about intimacy, identity and the common good.

The best fantasy, horror and science fiction of 2022: all the Minotaur news for the year (Paper Labyrinth 3x01)
