Corsair’s latest is a huge flexible OLED monitor that can be curved or flattened with just a push

In the world of gaming monitors there are two clear aspects: flat monitors and curved monitors, each with its advantages and disadvantages. Corsair seems to have asked the question “why choose when you can have both worlds in one?” and the answer is the Xeneon Flex 45WQHD240a monitor whose OLED screen is curved.

Indeed, the new Corsair monitor has a W-OLED screen developed together with LG Display that can be curved. To do this, the device has a pair of handles on the sides that the user must use to adjust the curvature to your liking (up to 800R).

Now flat, now curved

The Corsair Xeneon Flex has a 45-inch OLED screen with 3,440 x 1,440 pixels of resolution in 21:9 format, so we are talking about a widescreen monitor. The device also has a anti-reflective cover to avoid flare and reflections, something that can happen on some OLED panels (and what happens in some tv).

What monitor to buy to work: buying guide and 13 monitors for productivity from 100 to 600 euros

According to Corsair, the monitor has a maximum brightness of a thousand nits and a contrast of 1,350,000:1, so we can expect a completely black black. Response time is impressive: 0.03 ms GtG, coupled with a pixel on/off time of 0.01 ms and 240Hz refresh rate (G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium compatible). On paper, it looks brutal.

To finish off the rest of the specifications, it should be noted that the monitor has an HDMI connection, DisplayPort, USB type C, USB type A and a headphone jack. At the moment, there is no release date or pricebut we do know that it will be shown during the GamesCon that is taking place these days.

Corsair hasn’t given many details on how the bending system works either, but we do know that it’s not motorized. It is the user who, using the side handles, you need to curve it. The most interesting thing is that the curvature is on demand, that is, you can curve it more or less up to a maximum of 800R. Thus, you can have a flat screen to work, edit videos, and a more immersive curved panel for shooters or simulation games.

Curvature

Everything is said, it is not the first time that we see a monitor like this. LG Display already showed one at CES 2021, the Cinematic Sound OLED, which could also be curved and laid flat. The difference is that this model was motorized. We also know of the existence of Skyworth W82an OLED monitor that also allows the curvature to be adjusted in three radii with a remote control.
