bad omen for the electric car

The price increase in Tesla superchargers does not stop growing. The month of September has been the month of contrasts and after a significant drop for its users in the first few days, they now have to face a new and important increase.

The electric car firm has announced a major price hike for its superchargers across Europe, with prices starting at €0.77/kWh for Tesla owners in Denmark (€0.89/kWh for non-Tesla owners). ) up to €0.54/kWh from Switzerland (€0.80/kWh for non-Tesla owners).

Spain is in the low zone of what is paid in Europe. In our country, the increase positions Tesla superchargers at an average price of €0.55/kWh for those who already have a Tesla, while those who recharge with a third-party car will have to pay €0.71/kWh.

Keep in mind that non-Tesla vehicle owners can also charge at €0.55/kWh but will have to subscribe monthly at a rate that costs €12.99. With the new prices, charging 45 kW (75% of the battery of the more modest Tesla Model 3) costs 24.75 euros. The same charge without a subscription and with a non-Tesla model shoots up to 31.95 euros.

A month of September of ups and downs

The first days of the month of September arrived with good news for Tesla owners. Recharge prices fell from €0.53/kWh to €0.46/kWh, recovering much of the nine cents of price increase that was experienced last July. Prices for non-subscribers remained constant.

The joy has lasted very little with another new rise of nine cents. Along with July, it is the largest that Tesla owners have had to take on. Non-subscribers also receive the biggest price hike, with each top-up being five cents more expensive.

Keep in mind that since she began to be paid, the prices for Tesla owners have become more expensive by €0.26/kWh, for which they have almost doubled their initial price. Recharging in a 45 kW supercharger is now 11.70 euros more expensive. And the price of this recharge has become more expensive €8.55 since last December.

Why Tesla has installed its 116 superchargers in the regions of Spain with fewer electric cars

The problem with this increase is that it advances a scenario that is expected to be more complicated during the winter. Disruption of Russian gas supply is likely to shoot the price of electricity in the colder months, which could have a direct consequence on the prices of recharges.
